We’ve noticed that those who want health care for all aren’t immune from overusing acronyms. Here are a few from the universal health care movement and allies.
ACA – The Affordable Care Act, passed in 2010, expanded health coverage to more Americans, allowed children to stay on their parents’ health insurance until age 26, prohibited health insurance companies from turning down applicants or denying coverage for pre-existing conditions, and required everyone to purchase health insurance. Commonly called ObamaCare. The act includes a waiver for state innovation in which states could apply to receive federal funding for their own plans so long as they cover as many people with at least as good of benefits.
